Server reports "-1 Cores" on Ubuntu 10.4 dual-core VM instance

Hello,

I've been experimenting w/ the voter example on voltdb 2.1, first on a dual-core Mac and now on a couple of Ubuntu 10.4 2-CPU VM instances. On theMac the server properly reports a dual-core system, but when running the Ubuntu VM, it reports "-1 Cores, -1 Sockets" as shown below, but the server and client still run.


Any ideas why this is reported incorrectly, and if it has any negative consequences?

Hi Ben,
That log output is for informational purposes only so it is harmless for it to be wrong. I created https://issues.voltdb.com/browse/ENG-1973 to track this issue. The code that parses /proc/cpuinfo probably has a bug in that configuration.

If it's not too much trouble, could you list the output of "cat /proc/cpuinfo" on one of those VM instances? That should help us reproduce the issue here.
