Enterprise Manager Seems to Hang

EM seems to hang when I try to start it...there is no obvious error message in any of the logs (and port 9000 isn't bound).

[cfuser@myserver management]$ ./enterprise_manager.sh

What can I track down to try to resolve this? TIA.

Hi,

When I get into this situations I resort to wholesale delete of the VEM voltdb settings directory:

First I stop/kill VEM, then I purge the settings directory, then I restart VEM

rm -fR ~/.voltdb/*

this unfortunately removes all your VEM configuration too, and will require you re-entering server and cluster configuration settings.

Yep, that did it. And, ugh, redo-ing the config. But, at least I can proceed. Thanks. (BTW, are you aware of a bug report addressing this? If not, I'll open one...)

cfuser,

Thanks for reporting this. It is unfortunate that you ran into this. I would like to create a ticket for this issue with more information.

If you could reproduce this, can you take a stack trace of the VEM process, please? To do that, run jstack on the VEM process ID when it hangs again.

Thank you.

cfuser,

I have reproduced the hang on my desktop. The problem is identified. I have created a ticket for this.

Thanks again for reporting this.
