Cannot start voltdb in AWS following getstarted doc

I have launched an instance using ami-d740cabe, which has voltdb 3.0. I followed the gettingStarted doc and created a helloworld.jar.

voltdb create catalog helloworld.jar

The command is handing after "Server completed initialization". No error. Why is that?

How can I create a voltdb?

that's normal behavior.
what makes you think that it doesn't start?
just run sqlcmd (or any other client) on another terminal session and you should be connected...

Thought the database will run in the background. Yes, open another terminal and sqlcmd works. Thanks!
